Charge Laid in Motor Vehicle Collision Corner Brook

(CORNER BROOK, NL) – January 11, 2015 – Backing a vehicle out of a driveway onto
a roadway can be hazardous.
On January 11, 2015 at approximately 9:50 a.m. RNC Patrol Services, with the
assistance of the Corner Brook Fire Department, responded to a complaint of an
overturned vehicle on O’Connell Drive near Westmount Road in Corner Brook, NL
The driver of the overturned vehicle was not injured during this incident and the vehicle
sustained extensive damages. Through investigation it was determined that a vehicle
had backed out of a driveway and onto the road. A vehicle travelling on O’Connell Drive
veered to avoid collision with this backing vehicle, collided into a snowbank and
overturned on O’Connell Drive.
The operator of the reversing vehicle, a 54 year old male, was issued a Summary
Offence Ticket under the Highway Traffic Act for Backing a Vehicle Unsafely.
RNC Patrol Services is continuing the investigation. Anyone with information in relation
