Corner Brook Man In Custody for Resisting Arrest and Theft

(CORNER BROOK, NL) – January 11, 2015 – A Corner Brook man remains in custody
after an incident that occurred in Corner Brook Sunday afternoon.
On January 11, 2015 at approximately 2:40 p.m. RNC Patrol Services responded to a
complaint of theft at a business located in the Valley Mall. It was reported that a male
had stolen merchandise and left the business without paying for items. The suspect had
ran from the Valley Mall in the direction of the Lewin Parkway. RNC Patrol Services
officers attended the Lewin Parkway near Mill Road and located the suspect. The
suspect resisted arrest during the incident.
As a result of an investigation, a 29 year male resident of Corner Brook was charged
with Theft under $5000, Resisting Arrest and Breach of a Recognizance. He remains in
custody at the Corner Brook Detention Centre and will appear in Provincial Court on
January 12, 2015. The stolen items were recovered by police and returned to the
business.
