New City Manager appointed

The Council of the City of Corner Brook is pleased to announce Ms. Melissa Wiklund has been appointed City Manager for the City of Corner Brook. Ms. Wiklund, a former resident of Newfoundland, will assume the position on March 2, 2015.
Ms. Wiklund received her high school education in Carbonear, Newfoundland. She obtained a General Studies Degree, Arts and Science from Athabasca University in 2008 and a Masters in Business Administration from the University of Fredericton in 2011. Ms. Wiklund has over fourteen (14) years of experience in the public and community sector with a heavy concentration on public policy, public consultation, community planning and stakeholder relations. She has seven years of direct experience in the municipal sector employed in the position of Supervisor/Planner in the Neighbourhood and Community Support Services Branch with the Regional Municipality of Wood Buffalo.
According to Mayor Pender, “Ms. Wiklund has a strong history of public service with a stakeholder-focused approach to service delivery. Her background is quite diverse with a high level of expertise in community and strategic planning. The Council of the City of Corner Brook looks forward to working with Ms. Wiklund and is confident she will further strengthen the leadership team currently in place in the organization”.
