On December 18, 2014 at approximately 11:15 a.m. RNC Patrol Services responded to a disturbance complaint at the CIBC located on Main Street. It was reported that there was a disorderly male inside the business. As a result of an investigation, a 63 year old male was arrested and charged with Causing a Disturbance. He was later released to appear in Provincial Court in February 2015.
On December 18, 2014 at approximately 9:30 p.m. RNC Patrol Services responded to a collision between two vehicles on West Street. It was reported that damages were minimal between the vehicles and no injuries were reported. One of the operators allegedly left the scene without providing his identity. As a result of this investigation, the RNC located the suspect driver in Stephenville, NL at 10:45 a.m. This person, a 67 year old male resident of Port au Port East, NL was charged under the Highway Traffic Act with Failing to Give Name and Address at Accident Scene.
On December 18th at 2014 at 8:40 pm police received a complaint at RNC Headquarters from a 48 yr old female resident of Corner Brook that she had been assaulted and threatened by a 50 yr old male resident of Corner Brook. The male and female were known to each other but were not in a relationship. The female did receive injuries in this assault but are not of a life threatening nature. At 10:13 pm, Police located the male at a residence in the city and while arresting same he became very violent and aggressive towards police. After a short physical confrontation with police the suspect was taken into custody, however, two police officers were assaulted by this male. One officer received injuries which required treatment at Western Memorial Regional Hospital. He was treated and later released. The male is being held in police custody for court in the morning, where he will face charges of Assault Causing Bodily Harm and Uttering Threats to Cause Death to the female, Resisting Arrest, Assaulting a Police Officer, and Assaulting a Police Officer Causing Bodily Harm.
