Possible Poaching Incident in Corner Brook

The Fish and Wildlife Enforcement Division (FWED) in Corner Brook received information of a possible moose poaching incident on a walking trail near the Margaret Bowater Park in Corner Brook on Monday, January 23.

Fish and Wildlife Enforcement Officers, along with members of the Royal Newfoundland Constabulary, responded to the call from a member of the public and located the area where two moose had been observed with one having been injured. Officers believe that what they witnessed at the scene to be consistent with gunshot wounds.

An investigation into the incident is underway and officers are asking anyone who has information or who may have seen suspicious behaviour in that area to please come forward.
