RNC CORNER BROOK 24 HOUR MEDIA REPORT – DECEMBER 13

The Royal Newfoundland Constabulary in Corner Brook was busy and received 56 calls for service for the 24 hour period ending on December 13, 2014 at 4 a.m.
RNC Patrol Services received nine (9) complaints of vehicles broken into in the downtown area of Corner Brook overnight between December 11, 2014 and December 12, 2014. These matters are under investigation.
RNC Patrol Services responded to four (4) motor vehicle collisions during this period.
On December 12, 2014 at approximately 9:05 p.m. RNC Patrol Services officers were patrolling on O’Connell Drive near the Gallipoli Armoury when officers located a male inside a parked vehicle when not permitted to do so. The male was found by officers hiding on the floor of the vehicle. The vehicle had been rummaged through during the incident. As a result of this incident, a 16 year old male resident of Corner Brook was arrested and charged with attempted theft from motor vehicle, Mischief by interfering with the use and enjoyment of property and breach of courts. The accused was under three separate court orders including curfew to reside at a residence during the time of the incident. He has been held in custody and will appear in WASH court on December 13.
On December 12, 2014 at approximately 9:25 p.m. RNC Patrol Services conducted a curfew check at a residence on Gillams Road. During the investigation, it was alleged that the accused, an 18 year old male, was not home and in breach of a court ordered curfew. The accused was not located through the night as it was believed he was out of town. The matter remains under investigation.
