RNC in Corner Brook, Charge Male for Mischief, Assaulting Police Officer

(CORNER BROOK, NL) – October 3, 2014 – The Royal Newfoundland Constabulary (RNC) Corner Brook Region has charged a 51 year old male in relation to a mischief complaint at a licensed establishment in the Curling area.
On Thursday, October 2, 2014 at approximately 8:20 p.m. officers from RNC Patrol Services responded to a complaint of Mischief at the Curling Ranger Lounge located on Curling Street. It was alleged a male had broken out a window at the business and had
left the area as a passenger in a vehicle.
RNC Patrol Services conducted a traffic stop with the suspect vehicle on the Lewin Parkway near the Millbrook Mall. While police were attempting to effect an arrest the male suspect struck a police officer with his fist and threw a lit cigarette at them.
As a result the 51 year old Corner Brook resident has been charged with mischief, assaulting a police officer and failing to comply with the conditions of a court order. He was held in custody at the Corner Brook Detention Centre and will appear in Provincial Court later today.
