RNC News Briefs – August 8, 2015

On August 7, 2015 at approximately 10:55 a.m. RNC Patrol Services, Corner Brook Fire Department and Western Health paramedics responded to a motorcycle collision on O’Connell Drive near Union Street. There were two passengers on the motorcycle and were conveyed to Western Memorial Regional Hospital for treatment of injuries. The operator of the motorcycle sustained what is believed to be serious, non-life threatening injuries while the rear passenger sustained moderate, non-life threatening injuries.  This area of O’Connell Drive was partially closed for three hours as a RNC Collision Analyst and RNC Forensic Identification Services assisted at the scene. Upon further investigation, a 25 year old male driver of a vehicle was issued a Summary Offence Ticket for Failing to Yield Right of Way while Turning Left at an Intersection. Both occupants of the motorcycle remain at Western Memorial Regional Hospital for treatment. The matter remains under investigation.

At approximately 8:00 pm Patrol Services responded to the area of Coleman’s food Store on Caribou Road after a report was received of male youths stealing from vehicles. As a result of the police response two 13 yr old male residents of Corner Brook were arrested for Possession of Stolen Property, Theft Under $5000.00 and Possession of Marijuana. They were released to the custody of their parents and charges are pending. The vehicles did not sustain any damage as a result of the youths activity. Police are reminding citizens to always secure your vehicle when leaving same unattended.
