On Wednesday, October 17, 2012 the RNC received a complaint of indecent phone calls. The complaint was investigated both criminally and internally by the RNC Professional Standards Division. As a result of the investigation Sean Kelly was charged with indecent phone calls and mischief. He was charged and released to appear in Provincial Court. He was suspended without pay pending the outcome of the court proceedings.

The Provincial Court of Newfoundland and Labrador have released their decision in this case and have convicted Constable Sean Kelly with indecent phone calls and mischief. The matter is still under review with the RNC’s Professional Standards Division as they were awaiting the court’s decision. Kelly will remain suspended without pay until a decision is made by the Professional Standards Division.
