Todd Flynn Appointed to Position of Protective Services

The City of Corner Brook has appointed Todd Flynn as the Director of the new Protective Services division.

“Mr. Flynn’s strong background in emergency and security management, along with his leadership abilities, experience, and knowledge of protective services, and his commitment to our community will serve City Council and the citizens of Corner Brook extremely well,” says Mayor Pender.

As Director of Protective Services Mr. Flynn will be responsible for the planning, direction and management of the protection and prevention services divisions including the Fire Department, Municipal Enforcement, Animal Control, Public Service Answering Program (PSAP) and Emergency Measures Management. “We’re in the process of improving the way we do business,” said City Manager Melissa Wiklund. “Through an operational and organizational review, consultation and direction from City Council, the Director of Protective Services position was identified as crucial for helping the City make the transitions necessary to tackle the challenges we face in the future and further the connections between protection service divisions.”

“I look forward to working closely with the various departments and personnel in support of the positive changes that are taking place within the city” said Flynn. This appointment represents an opportunity to expand upon my involvement in community and build upon an already great team with the City of Corner Brook.

Todd Flynn has a variety of protective services experience. Mr. Flynn was employed with the Royal Newfoundland Constabulary for thirteen years. Other previous employers include Jazz Aviation, as Manager of Security Environment and Emergency Preparedness and Enbridge Pipelines as Team lead in Emergency Management Projects. Mr. Flynn also has work experience in protective uniform sales, construction, and property management.

Flynn holds a Bachelor of Arts Degree from the Memorial University of Newfoundland, a Masters of Arts degree from Royal Roads University, a Diploma of Information Technology and is a graduate from Holland College Police Science Program.

Flynn will commence employment with the City of Corner Brook on May 16, 2016.
