Rainfall warning in effect for:

  • Corner Brook and vicinity

Rain, at times heavy, is expected.

Heavy rain is expected to develop tonight as an intense low pressure system tracks west of Newfoundland. Total amounts are generally expected to range from 30 to 40 mm with higher amounts up to 60 mm over higher terrain. Rain is expected to taper off Monday afternoon.

Localized flooding in low-lying areas is possible. Watch for possible washouts near rivers, creeks and culverts.

Wind warning in effect for:

  • Corner Brook and vicinity

Strong winds that may cause damage are expected or occurring.

Strong southerly winds gusting between 100 and 120 km/h are expected to develop Monday morning as an intense low pressure system tracks west of Newfoundland.

Loose objects may be tossed by the wind and cause injury or damage. Avoid wooded areas to prevent injury from falling trees or branches. Campers should move to sturdy shelters.
