CFSEU-NL is Seeking the Public’s Assistance

(ST. JOHN’S, NL) – October 10, 2014 – The Combined Forces Special
Enforcement Unit (CFSEU – NL) is an integrated investigative unit consisting of
personnel from the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) and the Royal
Newfoundland Constabulary (RNC).
The CFSEU-NL Internet Child Exploitation Unit is seeking the public’s assistance
in relation to a media story which aired yesterday. The story concerned a male
individual walking along Thorburn Road without clothing. It is reported that a
number of people passing by took photos of the individual which were
subsequently posted and shared on various social media websites. The public is
advised that the individual was less than 18 years of age and that the posting
and/or sharing of photos of this incident over the internet may constitute an
offence under the Child Pornography laws outlined in the Criminal Code of
Canada. Therefore, the CFSEU-NL is seeking the public’s assistance in
removing these pictures from any social media sites where they may have
posted the photo.
