(CORNER BROOK, NL) – October 8, 2014 –
The Royal Newfoundland Constabulary (RNC) is participating in a National Traffic Education and Enforcement initiative province-wide entitled “Operation Impact”.
This four-day traffic initiative has been strategically chosen to take place on the Thanksgiving long weekend, from October 10-13, 2013, as an increase in the volume of traffic on our highways increases the potential for more traffic collisions. Operation Impact is an annual collaborative effort by Canadian Police Services to aggressively
enforce the laws that govern high risk activities of road users and to make Canada’s roads the safest in the world. The focus during Operation Impact will be on behaviors that reduce risks for drivers, passengers and other road users such as sober and alert driving, seat belt use, distracted and aggressive driving.
In support of Operation Impact, the Royal Newfoundland Constabulary, through education and enforcement, will be enforcing the Highway Traffic Act by conducting road side stops and traffic safety stops. RNC Police vehicles will be stationed at key locations to remind people that safe driving habits save lives and reduce injuries on our roadways.
