Written by Administrator on January 22, 2015
An intense low pressure system is forecast to develop over the Southeastern United States on Saturday and track northeastward towards Newfoundland and Labrador. Current forecast guidance suggests the system will bring significant rain, snow, and very strong winds to the island on Sunday.
Precipitation will begin as snow before changing over to rain in most areas, although current indications show Southeastern Newfoundland will see mostly rain while Northern Newfoundland will see mostly snow.
Environment Canada will continue to monitor this system and provide additional information as it becomes available.
