Wind warning continued for: Corner Brook and vicinity, N.L.

PrintDangerous wind gusts causing widespread damage are expected or occurring. For exposed areas of the southwest coast: Easterly wind gusts are expected to reach 100 km/h this afternoon before diminishing this evening. For coastal areas of the west coast: Easterly winds are expected to gust up to 140 km/h in areas prone to enhanced easterly winds today. For the Bay St. George area to Corner Brook the strongest wind gusts are expected near noon and for areas north of Corner Brook the strongest wind gusts are expected to develop early this afternoon and continue into this evening.

High winds may cause numerous downed trees and damage may occur from blowing debris. Store or anchor objects so they are not tossed by the wind causing injury or damage. Wind warnings are issued when there is a significant risk of damaging winds. Environment Canada meteorologists will update alerts as required. Stay up to date with Weatheradio or your local media.
